The stator and rotor are magnetic circuit of traction motor( pulling motor) , they are laminated by insulated silicon steel.

One is the poor assembly of bearing or overwear result of stator and rotor surface friction,cause damage to the core. A short circuit ijappened to silicon,as a result, the iron loss the motor temperature rise. In this situation we shall remove the burrs on stator and rotor carefully to eliminate the shortage.After that, use the insulation varnish to insulate and bake them.
The second is that iron dampened and rust, polish the surface using the sandpaper and insulate them by varnish.
The third reason is skew by big force during disassmeble the old winding,In this case you should use a wooden hammer or small pincers on alveolar repair and difficult to repair and there is a gap between stator core,add some insulating material such as bakelite plate to insulate..
